to clarify, the teacher would send you the link by email, and then you 
would enter on the link.

the majority of the link's address would vary accordingly, but the 
ending would make a difference.

if the end is dl=1, when you enter on the link, the file associated with 
the link's address will automatically save the download of the file for 
you.

but if the ending is dl=0, then you will have to either find the 
download link after entering on the link in the email, or (preferably) 
select and copy the address, paste it in the address bar of a browser, 
and change the 0 to a 1, and press enter to start the saving of the 
download of the file.

if the teacher is savvy enough, he or she can change the 0 to a 1 before 
sending you the email.

Tracy, you don't necessarily need a Dropbox account to receive the
files, the teacher has to send you a link to retrieve the files.

unless the teacher will be making files available for you to get on
occasion, then you will need a Dropbox account.

and she’ll attach the files.

I have no idea what to do, and the “getting started” PDF was not very
accessible and thus less than helpful.

Can anyone tell me how to get the teacher’s files through Dropbox?
