anyone correct me if I am wrong on this, but the file
cannot be saved from the media player because it hasn't finished being
downloaded. however, there is an extension that plays a ding sound when
the download has finished being saved:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/download-sound/
using Firefox, use the above URL to install it. I believe there is an
"Add" button or link and then you need to allow the installation to
proceed. I can't give better directions because I already have it
installed. but I can Tandem in to your computer to help get it installed
if you're having difficulty, that is if you want to install an extension?
Tandem is totally safe. there is no chance of cross contamination of
virus or spyware infection.

Subject: [NJTechDiv] Downloading in Firefox
Downloading in Firefox confuses me. I pick a download link, and, after
what seems a reasonable time, I do control-j to open the download
folder. I’m usually downloading a video file, say, an MP4.I see my
filename and the words “open containing folder”.
If I hit Enter, it starts to play my file, but I can’t save it from the
media player.
If I don’t hit enter, and try to copy the file elsewhere, I can’t do
that. The file doesn’t get selected, no matter what I do.
I often end up copying the original link into Internet Explorer, where I
get a notification when my file is done downloading, and where my file
ends up as a file, and not a mysterious folder.
Am I doing something wrong in Firefox?
Tracy
