[NJTechDiv] Changing a file extension

Did you try “rename” under the application key? Go to the folder & file you want to rename. Tap the application key once, then up-arrow 2 times and press enter on Rename. Edit the file name to what you want the extension to be and press enter again. Only thing is that this usually gives a message about losing your formatting so you might want to make a copy of your file as is before renaming with a new extension.

Hi Mario.
I did try what you suggest, but it only shows me the filename without the
extension, and, when I type .brf, it makes my filename name.brf.txt, which
doesn't help.
Google says I can use the View menu to make Win10 show me the file
extension, but I can't find it there.

when focused on the file, press f2. now you can press the end key,
remove the BRF extension using the backspace key, type TXT and press
enter. if this doesn't work, explain how you used to be able to do it
and any error messages that result from the attempt.

I want to change a file extension from .txt to .brf, and Windows won’t
let me do it, although I know I’ve done it in the past.

How do I do this? How do I make Windows10 show me file extensions at all?

Thanks.

Tracy
