Hi folks not really cutting the cord as much as ditching the boxes. We have a few firesticks set up around the house am surprised more of the division isn’t using em especially with the increasing popularity of the streaming services and TV generally that is outside of the conventional. More and more TV shows and movies are winning awards from these services and less and less influence from the traditional broadcast and even cable.

Hi guys anyone use a firestick? Am going to be setting one up and ditching the cable box. Does anyone on list know how to set up the TV listings on newsline so that it matches using it or a roku? They don?t include the firestick or roku options on television source and I know there are lots of different channels you can see with them including the streaming services if you are a subscriber.

Hi Ken.

I don?t know about these things myself, but there?s some discussion of it on the Electronics-talk list on NFBNet. Someone on that list has also set up a blind cordcutters list. You could try searching the Electronics-talk archives for Fire Stick or cordcutters. If I remember right, you can get to the archives by going to nfbnet.org, then listserves, and then you might have to select the list you?re interested in, like electronics-talk. Or you could try Googling electronics-talk fire stick and see what you get.

HTH.

Tracy

Hi, all,
I've cleared posting this request with Janie, and I know it's a long-shot, but, does anyone?use a Samsung Galaxy A10E phone? And, if so, would you be willing to walk someone through the steps to work the text-to-speech and talkback processes? There's a newly-blind, elderly lady who is lost without her phone, and her husband is overwhelmed already with her care. They are both terribly depressed and she needs her phone to get connected to the world again.
I've googled it and see what the steps are, but they won't be able to do it without some hand-holding from someone who's used these features before. If at all possible, I'm hoping someone can talk to the husband on his phone so he can set it up for his wife, and he's not very tech savvy. I know it's a lot to ask, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much for any assistance or suggestions you might offer.
Take good care,
Miss Ruth
