I think registering with the service helps the product in general because you can provide feedback, test new features, etc.  I have not used it to book a flight yet.

Regarding QVC: if you search for a product on InnoSearch and it shows up in the results, you can get a description, ask about the product, etc.  I think QVC is one of the retailers they partner with, though I haven't found a way to filter by retailer.
