[nobe-l] New member introduction (Teaching English as asecondlanguage)

Hi Ashley,

I don't know much about the k-12 system, but at least in college
there is a trend toward paperless classrooms that makes it a lot
easier for blind people to grade papers. Students are required
to word process their papers anyway, so it's just as easy for
them to e-mail in their papers or submit them to a course
management system, and it saves them printing costs. It works
really well for us because of course a blind person can comment
on a digital paper just the way a sighted person can.

Best,
Karl

Emily,
haven't seen you before.
How long have you taught writing? Do you have a mastters in
english?

How do you read and correct student papers? Normally professors
write
comments between the lines since papers are double spaced, and
also in
margins.

Nice to see you're on list.

Ashley

Hi Miranda,

Nice to meet you! My name is Emily, and I teach college writing
courses. I’ve
taught grammar workshops for multilingual learners, which I
really enjoy! I
love interacting with our international students, and I’m
always up for
talking shop.

With best,
Emily

 Hello,

My name is Miranda, and I am currently assisting in an English

language (ESL) class for adult English language learners (ELL's)

education, and
 I
am completely blind. I have joined this list to connect with
other
 teachers
who are visually impaired, and to possibly connect with anyone
who is
teaching in the same subject area as well.

Thank you, and I wish each of you a Happy New Year!
