[nobe-l] blind nanny in training

Hello Kayla,
It appears that God has put a love for working with children in your heart,
so I suggest you follow your calling and where your giftings lie. It doesn't
sound like you'd enjoy being a secretary (now mostly functioning as
administrative assistants) very much if you love working with babies and
young children.
There are lots of opportunities to teach, especially as the numbers of
teachers of the blind are declining as teachers are retiring. Working for a
childcare centre is another option. I know a lady who worked for a childcare
centre for years and she loved it and they were very happy with her work.
She now runs her own in-home childcare and is licensed by the state.
To do tutoring you will need lots of resources, such as reading books, math
manipulatives, games etc. which you label in braille. You would also need
to know methods of teaching reading and mathematics to young children. This
information would be available through doing a bunch of research on the many
helpful homeschooling websites now on the internet as free resources.
Tutoring would be very possible.
Perhaps you could spend some time contacting and talking with folks who are
already working in the various professions you are considering.
Warmly,
Heather

I will continue to pray. Yes, I do have backup plans everyone--if
Nannying does not work, teacher's aide, secretary, or whatever career
God see fit for me to have. Thank you.
