Milestone Staffing Services is currently searching for a Traveling Teacher for the Visually Impaired or Vision Therapist to take an assignment in the Virgin Island working in St Thomas school district for the new school year 2015-2016. Teacher of the Visually Impaired or Vision Therapist should have a general degree in Special Education with specialized training in teaching students with visual impairments or have a degree in Visual Impairments. The TVI shall provide Visually Impaired Services to a diverse group of visually impaired students from preschool to 21 years of age. This group incudes Braille readers, low vision students, and students with multiple disabilities. Instruction in Grade I and 2 Braille, Nemeth Code, use of technologies such as transcription equipment and software, embossers, Braille notetakers, and cane skills is required.

Education and Experience Requirements:
Completion of a degree with a major emphasis in teaching students with visual impairments from a university program; Current CPR Certification - minimum Adult/Child; Qualification for state licensure or certification as a teacher of students with visual impairments in accordance with state requirements that reflect Expanded Core Curriculum areas including Braille and the CEC standards for teacher of visually impaired students.
