The pay is between $19.19 and $35.44 per hour (approximately between $39,915 and $73,715 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. The pay schedule/range is 12/63. A 12 month probationary period is required.

This position is located at the Department of Health Services (DHS); Division of Public Health (DPH); Bureau of Aging and Disability Resources (BADR).
This position is located in Rhinelander, WI, and will be responsible for the following counties: Florance, Forest, Price, Vilas, Langlade, Lincoln, and Marathon (north of Highway 29).

Position Summary:
This position provides highly skilled adjustment training to eligible consumers, along with the cultivation of service partners in specified DHS regions. The skills provided to consumers will include one or more of the following: orientation and mobility, adaptive independent living and low vision therapy. This position provides leadership for the Office for the Blind and Visually Impaired (OBVI) in his/her area(s) of certification; and provides direction and consultation to Rehabilitation Specialist and Rehabilitation Specialist Associate staff. Additionally, this person will serve as a member of the regional planning team for the Office for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
Special Notes:
Due to the nature of this position, all applicants who may be appointed will be required to allow the Department of Health Services to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
Qualifications:
Minimally qualified candidates will have:
•  Experience working with individuals who are blind or visually impaired.
•  Experience providing information and guidance on visual impairment to individuals with vision loss or blindness and other stakeholders.
•  Knowledge of eye diseases and their functional implications.
•  Knowledge and skills to operate office equipment, computers (log in, save and retrieve files, create documents, e-mail, internet, etc.), and computer programs (Microsoft: Excel, Word, Office).

Well-qualified candidates will also have:
•  Bachelors degree or higher in Rehabilitation Teaching, Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, or similar degrees.
•  Certified as an orientation and mobility specialist, vision rehabilitation therapist or low vision therapist by a nationally recognized entity in blindness personnel preparation.
•  Experience assessing individuals who are blind or visually impaired to determine their independent living needs.
•  Experience providing vision rehabilitation/independent living skills training to individuals who are blind or visually impaired.
