Kayla,
You need to do what is best for you. Its hard for us to give advice if we do
not know about the program.
We do not know how much flexibility you have in planning lessons or
modifying them, for instance.
We do not know how many kids are in the class. Are the classes known for
behavior issues? Some grades or even some schools have that reputation.
I agree with all Tara's suggestions.
If you do it, you should plan in advance and have some alternative materials
to work with.
Finally, if you decide this volunteer experience is not for you, you can
always volunteer with kids while incorporating literacy activities. There
are summer camps doing this and there may even be something at your local
library you can help with.
Good luck in your decision.
Ashley

Maybe I should just give this up and then sign on to the NFB
internship program instead. I only wanted to do this to get experience
with children and to see if I have what it takes.
I want as much experience as possible, because my lifelong dream is to
be a children's writer.
I'm sorry. I am ranting again. This sounds like giving up and I feel
awful. I'm sorry.
