Hello,
They are indeed so beautiful that they connect well between science and English/creative writing. Last year, I taught a lesson with an astronomy teacher doing exactly this. We talked about alternative text and gave some examples. I also had the students write their own Alternative text for one of the images, then they share those, then we looked at what NASA wrote. Lastly, I gave them eight alternative text narrative from NASA and had a PowerPoint going in continuous display with the eight corresponding images. They had to match the NASA alternative text to the corresponding picture. It was a highly successful activity and tremendously enjoyable.
Grace and Peace,

I'm sure many of you have seen the wonderful James Webb image descriptions.
I wanted to get some comments on something I've been thinking about.
These descriptions could possibly show connections between science and
language arts. Have any of you helped your students made this connection?
Have any of you found ways to use these images as teaching tools? I've been
wanting to have 3-d models of some of the images, not only for myself, but
to show anyone in my state who wants to see them. With the help of someone
in the UK, I hope to add audio commentary and/or data sonification. Has
anyone tried anything like this? Thanks.
