Hi Angel,
Welcome to the Oagdu list. We are glad to have you here with us. Do you have a dog guide or a service animal? Or are you considering getting one?
Looking forward to getting to know you.
I am Deanna, the President of the Ohio Association of Guide Dog Users. I live in Cincinnati with my 7 year old black lab, Pascal. He is from Guide Dogs for the Blind in California.

I do have a question: If the A D A says cards to show one is trained to use a Dog Guide from a certified training school is not required to be shown upon request, how can we complain about the fact unqualified people use dogs which are neither service dogs nor guides as companions. Taking them to places where blind individual dog handlers ought to have exclusive rights to go. I am sure the person who took his pet pig flying, the other week, claimed the pig was some sort of service animal. When the pig began traipsing up and down the isles of the airliner. When we read of people being allowed to take all sorts of animals everywhere using this claim without being gainsaid. Shouldn't dog guide users preserve the integrity of the privilege, so hard won, by insisting some sort of guide dog certificate be shown upon request? Drivers don't object to being licensed. Why shouldn't dog guide users demand in order to use a service dog, or, in that particular case, a pig, be at least asked to show some sort of documentation that that individual has the right to the use of such. Or to call whatever animal they want to bring in to a store, or on an airliner a dog guide, or service animal?
