Hi Deanna and all,
I agree that education is the key to educating the police on the laws of
service animals and the police need to be aware of the laws to protect
handlers and their service animals. After all that's their job and I think
going up through the chain of command is a good idea. I think we need to
do some serious education starting in the police .
For example maybe we as guide dog handlers need to go to our local police
departments and talk to a superviser and see if we as handlers can arrange
and put together a time to go in and educate the police officers ,
supervisers and any other law enforcement about the laws in our state of
Ohio on service animals and the police need to know the laws that protect
service animals and their handlers. If we can't count on the police to do
their job than who can we count on then? Take care.
