Stressed at Work
Everyone needs to work! Even the wealthiest people in the world spend time working. For some, work is a drudgery, but they keep going every day because they need the paycheck. Then there are those who love what they do and are passionate about it, eagerly anticipating going to work. Whether you love or hate your job, it’s important to find joy in what you do. The average person will spend 90,000 hours of their life “working.” That’s approximately one third of your life! Sadly, many people are miserable in their jobs and stressed to the max. Perhaps they don’t like their boss, their coworkers are lazy, or the work is overwhelming and physically exhausting. But having a job that is causing you to come home each night with high blood pressure and a bucket load of anxiety is a terrible way to live. If you’re in a situation where it is impossible to change jobs, then pray and ask God to give you joy. Look for the good and you will find it. Whether you are being bullied by coworkers, enduring tirades from your boss, or being pushed to produce more and more . . . don’t despair. God is with you, and He will give you the strength you need to face any challenge. God has a million ways to answer your prayers. He may choose to give you a new job, move you to another city, or He may want you to stay right where you are for reasons you may not understand until you get to heaven. But wherever God puts you . . . shine for Him. Be like Paul who said in Philippians 4:11-13, “I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” Text: Colossians 3:23-24, Ecclesiastes 9:10, 2 Thessalonians 1:11, 1 Corinthians 15:58

2 Thessalonians 1:11 NKJV - Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power,
1 Corinthians 15:58 NKJV - Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
