Repetitive Sins

Why is it that there are some sins that no matter how much you try–you tend to repeat over and over again. You even go to the Lord with a sincere heart filled with remorse, and ask forgiveness but when the temptation rolls around again, you make the same mistake. It is then with exasperation and despair that you approach God’s throne room . . . perhaps even somewhat embarrassed to ask God for forgiveness one more time. If you are feeling as if you are the only one who has ever felt this frustration, read what the apostle Paul writes in Romans 7:15-25, “For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. . . . For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out.” The secret to maintaining a life of righteousness, is to always abide with Christ. The minute you take your eyes off Jesus–you will fall! The Bible says in 1 John 3:6-10, “No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; . . . Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil . . . No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, . . . By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God.” The only way to stop the cycle of repetitive sins–is to stay close to Jesus! Text: Hebrews 10:26-27, 1 Corinthians 10:13, 1 John 2:3-6

Bible Texts:
Hebrews 10:26-27 NKJV - For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.

1 Corinthians 10:13 NKJV - No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

1 John 2:3-6 NKJV - Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
