Hello ,

Film is a powerful medium for the gospel, offering people the opportunity to experience Jesus’ story in their own heart language. Check out this true story from Eastern Europe.

When Roksana* accompanied her friend to an Easter event to watch a movie, she didn’t know what to expect. She knew very little about God except, maybe, candles were involved? Oh, and there was the crucifix symbol she saw every Easter. That was about it.

Roksana held her breath as the movie played, each sentence swirling in her spirit.

“I watched the story of Christ in the same breath,” she later recalled. Taken aback by this story she’d never known, Roksana finally understood God’s love for her. That Easter night, she committed her life to Jesus, praying along with the Rivka character at the film’s end.

After the showing, a Cru® staff member invited Roksana to a follow-up study. The small group watched and discussed a  <http://t.e.jesusfilm.org/r/?id=h1c900436,ae731ac,ae84602&cid=em-jfp-news-jfpdm869278-v-20210827&Campaign%20Code=&grmpid=&utm_source=acs&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=jfp%20news&utm_content=jfpdm869278-v> 12-part series called “Rivka”, featuring the character from “Magdalena”. With each episode, Roksana connected with her new faith on a deeper level.

“Through the life of Rivka and her friends, I began to learn more about God and His love for people,” she said. “Examples from the lives of ordinary people helped me change. … The Holy Spirit, like the wind, unbeknownst to me, made a change in me.”

Now Roksana is starting a small group in her home for nonbelievers. She prays God will use her, “Magdalena”, and “Rivka” to bring winds of change into the lives of her friends.
