Price of Love
Grief is the price you pay for love–the deeper the love, the deeper the pain. Sometimes the anguish seems unbearable as it torments the very depths of your soul and brings forth feelings of emptiness that words can’t define. But in spite of all the heartache, tears, and grief, most people would say that the “love shared” was worth the pain. The poet, Alfred Lord Tennyson, wrote, “Better to have loved and lost than to never having loved at all.” Because sin exists in this world, it is inevitable that everyone will experience loss and heartache at some time in their lives and grieving is part of the healing process. There is no shame in expressing your emotions–it’s okay to cry. Tears help weaken the grief, so don’t be afraid to cry when you’re alone, with your friends and your loved ones, as well as with your church family. It’s not healthy to keep all your misery bottled up inside, so open up! Most importantly, share your heartache with your Best Friend, Jesus. He not only listens, but He truly cares. Psalm 34:18 says, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” God understands your grief, and Philippians 4:7 gives these words of comfort: “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Love as Jesus loves . . . deeply and unconditionally, with your whole heart, for the price of love is worth every tear! Text: Psalm 147:3, Psalm 34:17-20, Matthew 5:4, Psalm 73:26

Bible Texts:
Psalm 147:3 NKJV - He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.

Psalm 34:17-20 NKJV - The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles. The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the LORD delivers him out of them all. He guards all his bones; Not one of them is broken.

Matthew 5:4 NKJV - Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted.

Psalm 73:26 NKJV - My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
