Being Willing Is Not Enough
You may have every desire to obey God’s voice and do the ‘right thing’, but when Satan puts temptation in your path–you end up doing the very thing that you really “don’t” want to do. Afterwards, you’re filled with guilt and disappointment because once again, you sinned against God. The Bible says in Mark 14:38, “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.” It’s so important to stay close to Jesus so that you will not fall–no matter what Satan throws at you! God will give you the strength to resist the devil which is confirmed in Isaiah 40:29, “He gives strength to the weary, and increases the power of the weak.” And here's the good news: You can claim God’s promise in 1 Corinthians 10:13, which says, “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” It can’t get much clearer than that! Being willing is not enough–you need God’s Holy Spirit power to make the right choices. Stay close to Jesus and He will give you His strength to resist temptation and shine for Him!
