Removing the Mask
In the world today, if you mention the word “mask'' immediately people think of something you wear over your nose and mouth to prevent sickness. But there are many different kinds of masks people wear to hide who they really are. In an effort to make themselves appear richer, happier, or more popular, they create unreal illusions in both their personal lives as well as on social media. Some are quite elaborate and a lot of time is spent to make others think they were on an exotic vacation, driving a luxury car, or basically “living the dream,” when in reality, all of it was fake. Today’s technology has made it even easier. Photoshop can make you appear thinner, taller, and wrinkle-free, without a blemish in sight. But making people believe you are someone that you’re not is deceptive. You may be able to fool some people, but sooner or later the truth will be revealed. If you are pretending to be a Christian, your fellow church members may be deceived, but God is no fool. He knows your heart and He knows whether or not you are sincere. Your church family may consider you ready for sainthood, but God knows what happens when you leave church. He knows if you are mean to your children, beat your spouse, do drugs, or watch porn in your closet. In fact, you simply can’t fool God - He knows everything. Remember this: a lie doesn’t become truth, wrong doesn’t become right, and evil doesn’t become good just because it’s accepted by a majority. John Wooden, one of the greatest basketball coaches of all time, once said, “Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.” Strive to live an honest life, one that is pleasing to God so you can joyfully stand before God on the Day of Judgment and say, “You are my Lord and my Savior - I belong to you.” Text: Matthew 15:8, James 1:27, Luke 12:2, 2 Timothy 3:2-5

Bible Texts:
Matthew 15:8 NKJV - 'These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with [their] lips, But their heart is far from Me.

James 1:27 NKJV - Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, [and] to keep oneself unspotted from the world.

Luke 12:2 NKJV - "For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known."

2 Timothy 3:2-5 NKJV - For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!
