Wrong is Wrong
Whenever we want to do something we know isn’t right, it’s interesting how we quickly come up with all the justifications we need to make it “okay.” We tell ourselves Satan’s lies: “Well, everyone else is doing it,” “It’s not like I do this every day,” “The Bible doesn’t really spell it out that clearly,” or “It’s okay as long as I’m not hurting anyone.” But herein lies the problem. You can talk yourself into doing anything you want to do and rationalize all you want, but in the end, wrong is still wrong, and all the excuses in the world won’t make it right. That’s because wrong is wrong even if everyone is doing it and right is right even if no one is doing it. Satan doesn’t care how he separates you from God, just as long as he does, because then he wins! There is no such thing as a “good excuse” to sin, because sin will keep you out of the kingdom. The Bible says in Romans 6:23, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." James 1:12-15 has quite a bit to say about temptation: “Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. Let no one say when he is tempted, ‘I am being tempted by God,’ for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.” No matter how long you have traveled in the wrong direction, you always have the choice to turn around. Accept responsibility, ask for forgiveness, and move forward listening to God’s voice . . . and only His voice. Text: 1 Corinthians 10:13, James 4:17, John 15:22, Psalm 141:4
Bible Texts:
1 Corinthians 10:13 NKJV - No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
James 4:17 NKJV - Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.
John 15:22 NKJV - "If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin."
Psalm 141:4 NKJV - Do not incline my heart to any evil thing, To practice wicked works With men who work iniquity; And do not let me eat of their delicacies.
