Waiting to Be Happy
If we understood how fragile life really is, we would all live our lives differently. We are always “waiting” to be happy instead of choosing to be happy “now.” We wait for the right relationship, a college education, financial success, a new house, a higher position in our job, or a new car . . . thinking that then we will achieve happiness. But none of those things will bring real peace or joy. Sadly, instead of focusing on our many blessings, we spend time worrying, complaining, gossiping, being jealous, being angry, being depressed, all the time wishing for and wanting something bigger and better than what we have. If you keep “waiting” to be happy, you never will be. Life is much shorter than you realize, for no one is promised tomorrow. All it takes is a single moment to dramatically change your life. Don’t wait any longer. Ask God to come into your heart and make you truly grateful for His many blessings that He already has given you. Choose to be happy, right now, today, no matter what dreams and goals that have or have not been accomplished. The Bible says in Proverbs 10:28, “The hope of the righteous will be gladness, but the expectation of the wicked will perish.” At the end of your life, none of your personal achievements, accolades, or accumulated wealth will matter - you can’t take them to heaven with you. Only what you do for Christ will last - that’s what matters. So, don’t wait to be happy. Accept God’s gift of joy and be happy today! Text: 1 Corinthians 6:6-8, Philippians 4:11-12, Hebrews 13:5, Psalm 16:11

Bible Texts:
1 Corinthians 6:6-8 NKJV - But brother goes to law against brother, and that before unbelievers! Now therefore, it is already an utter failure for you that you go to law against one another. Why do you not rather accept wrong? Why do you not rather let yourselves be cheated? No, you yourselves do wrong and cheat, and [you do] these things to your]brethren!

Philippians 4:11-12 NKJV - Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

Hebrews 13:5 NKJV - Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."

Psalm 16:11 NKJV - You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
