Camouflaged Christians
There is so much phoniness and hypocrisy in this world that it’s hard to know if anyone is the “real deal” anymore. People make great efforts to appear better than they are just to impress others. Sadly, camouflaged Christians lead out in church services, sing like angels up front, and greet people with warmth and affection, but paint a totally different picture once they leave church. Would you respect your pastor if you knew he was having an extramarital affair or the church treasurer if you knew she was stealing from the offering plate? Would your opinion of your church elder be different if you knew he beat his wife? Absolutely! You would be appalled, as you should be. When you pretend to live by biblical principles while pursuing a worldly lifestyle that goes against God’s Holy Word, you are being a hypocrite. The Bible says in 1 Peter 2:1, “Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind.” There is only one way to rid yourself of hypocritical behavior and that is to surrender your heart and life to Jesus and wear His robe of righteousness. We’re told in Romans 13:14, “Clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature.” Choose to be real and rejected than to be fake and accepted. The critical difference between a struggling believer and a calloused hypocrite . . . is desire. Pray for a hatred for evil and a godly desire for good and live by this motto in Matthew 6:33: “Seek ye first His kingdom and His righteousness.” Text: 1 Peter 2:16, Galatians 6:3, Luke 6:46, Matthew 6:1

Bible Texts:
1 Peter 2:16 NKJV - as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God.

Galatians 6:3 NKJV - For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.

Luke 6:46 NKJV - "But why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and not do the things which I say?"

Matthew 6:1 NKJV - "Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven."
