OK, here's the deal. NAPUB met at convention and decided to try Louis
Braille gatherings at book stores around the state on Jan. 4. We were asked
to pick one big one in the state and focus our efforts there. But we thought
it would be better to do it this way. Colleen is organizing Toledo. Annette
is working on Cleveland. Jim Tuder agreed to contact a Barns and Noble in
Cincinnati. Susan Day, I think, is tackling Dayton. Debbie Baker is going to
work with Dayton or Columbus if we do something there. We agreed to begin
with Barns and Noble because that seemed the best bet in most places, and
we thought there might be some drag with some stores if we were already
working with others. But we always thought that we could go try another
store if the B&N option did not work in an area. The point is to do
something on Jan. 4 to celebrate Braille's birthday. We will have Braille
cards to pass out that have the braille.org Website listed on them. Any
activities that seem a good idea are fine. We talked about Brailling names
for people, passing out cookies with Braille letters in M&Ms on them,
reading a story from a Braille text to kids, maybe showing folks a Braille
adult book or one loaded into a notetaker. Annette found that the store she
wanted is busiest from noon to 3. We are going to try to organize several
chapters to staff this event. How much you take on in one area should be
determined by the number of volunteers you are sure you can get.

Hope this helps.
