A clothing drive to be distributed to local pantries that give clothing away
to their recipients, this a good thing.
Also I just sent out info about Angle Foods. Purchasing of a box or two is
a good idea too. If a person has a Ohio Direct Card, they can order it this
weekend and receive it the following weekend for distribution.
What do you think?

Subject: [Ohio-talk] Volunteer opportunity
I have just talked with Jason Ewell, who was sounding this affiliate out
about a possible opportunity to sponsor and coordinate a community volunteer
activity on Jan. 19, Martin Luther King Day. There is a national movement
for nonprofits across the country to take on community projects as the
sponsor. The idea is that members of the community would volunteer to help
with the food pantry drive, coats for kids, pick up trash, reclaim a park,
paint a preschool, etc. The planners want a disability-connected group to
be one of the sponsoring organizations. We have been asked to consider doing
so, but to be accepted as a sponsor, we would have to come up with ten
projects across the country. The staff is approaching states that they think
have the energy and ability to organize such a thing on short notice--thus
the call to us.
I can't think of any way to get this done, but I promised to write this
message and ask if any of you have projects in mind and the chapter support
to make it happen. Any ideas? I have to get back to Jason tomorrow.
Barbara
