1 In 30 days we will be at the Ranada Plaza hotel for our 63rd State Convention. The hotel is located at 4900 Sinclair Road in Columbus and the number for room reservations and all other information is 614.846.0300.

2 October 8th is the last day for our block of rooms at our Convention rate although as long as rooms are available, the hotel will take your reservations but to ensure that you get our rate of 72 dollars per night please make your reservations by October 8th.

3 Although we tend to stay quite busy at these Conventions, I want you to be aware that the hotel provides a Shuttle service that goes to and from the Airport and to the major shopping ficilities in the city.

They make it based on availability but in general they will take you pretty much anywhere within 5 miles of the hotel.

Spread the word about this service.

4 Please get and bring door prizes and make sure that you get them to Paul Dressell and I personally love getting soft cash as a prize.

Remember no alcohol as prizes please.

5 The deadline for preregistration isn't until October 20th but the sooner you can get those in it will give us a better idea of final numbers for the various meals an such.

6 Remember that the Sunday morning breakfast is for chapter and affiliate leaders such as Presidents and vice Presidents and anyone that has been identified as being likely too benefit from such a meeting.

I will be at the door checking you out as you arrive!

7 The Board meeting will be held at 9 on Friday the 30th and it will kick off our wonderful time together once again.

8 I am please to tell you that the Columbus and Miami Valley chapters will be hosting our hospitality time this year wich will be from 8 to 11 on Friday evening the 30th.

9 Tomorrow kicks off Meet The Blind month so do all that you can to promote our cause and affiliate and most of all to sell as many Louis Braille coins as possible.

In conjunction with this, we will be having a big event in Columbus on October 10th from 11 to 3 at the Columbus Science Institute or COSI.

Susan Day has done a marvelous job setting this up and I'd like for her to tell you more about it here soon but put it on your calendars please?

10 Finally, remember our theme this year is The Nature Of Independence.

Their will be copies of this speech delivered by Dr. Jernigan in 1993 available at the literature table, so pick up a copy but it would be great to read it before the Convention in preparation for the various Agenda items and other activities that will address this issue of independence as it relates to our family.
