I am hoping you can provide me with a little background information about
this small ceramic ashtray with the english and braille alphabets embossed
around the rim.
 
My researcfj indicates that it dates from the 1940's/50's, possibly
commissioned in bulk by the now defunct Philamatheon Society for the Blind,
of Canton, Ohio (according to the Oct. 2000 Monitor online newsletter). 
There were two styles available: the seeing eye dog and a cane.
 
If you can clarify or add to this information I would be most grateful.
