Hello Everyone,
Thank Goodness the President sets the agenda.
I think that Barbara Pierce gave a very good explanation of the role of the President and the Board of Directors.
I have a comment about Cheryl's suggestion for the Agenda.
I understand that Demestic Violation is a problem for many people. I also understand that it is a more signifians problem for those with disabilities.
I do not think that this problem is something we need to spend time on at the Convention. My reason for this opinion is that there are many organizations who offer workshops and Support for those experiencing Domestic Violence.
These groups can certainly meet the needs of blind people.
I do not believe that there is a need for blindness specific groups.
We have had workshops covering selfe-defense at our Convention.
Those of us who have worked with people experiencing Domestic Violence or other kinds of manipulation or scams which occur at a higher rate for the elderly and disabled know that there are many facets to consider.
There are more resources out there now for those needing Assistance.
Since we are all part of the Federation Family I think Chapter Leadership should be willing to step up to the plate and help those who are victims of abuse or neglect if they cannot stand up for themselves.
Utimately the person needs to be willing to accept the help offered.
Last year's Convention Agenda did not allow time for some Chapters and Divisions to meet.
Colleen Roth, President
At Large Chapter;
