 Hello Suzanne,
This is certainly interesting. I know that many women find pleasure in dressing to the nines and being fashionable. I guess some people define beauty as a put-together look with perfect hair, makeup and clothes.
Some people only view beauty as the way we look on the outside. Commercials make us feel that this is essential.
To me beauty is what is on the inside. This doesn't have to do with my blindness but rather with the way I was raised. My grandmother didn't put stock in makeup and an up-to-date hairdo. My mother was just the opposite.
I think the way we view ourselves has more to do with the way we were brought up and the things which are important to those around us.
I have always found happiness in getting a new pair of shoes and finding clothes which are modest and practical.
When I dress modestly and know that what I wear is neat and clean I am happy. This makes me feel that I am dressed appropriately. I personally do not like makeup and just want to keep my hair short. This is just my personal style or lack thereof.
I really do not think that blind women are affected by advertisements because we have as much opportunity to know what is in style as everyone else if we are interested in finding information.
I could be wrong but this is just my perception.
This may be because I am not interested in dyeing my hair, wearing makeup and any cosmetic surgery.
I am glad you are in this study, Suzanne.

> Good Afternoon,
>
> I have been selected to participate in a Focus Group regarding Dove Beauty. Dove has a Campaign that is on YouTube that speaks to all women with the exception of those who are blind.
>
> A Senior from the College of Wooster is conducting a study on women who are visually impaired and their impression on beauty. I thought this was an interesting idea and wanted to share it. Although, most of you cannot participate in this study, it has me wondering if those of us who cannot see have the same perceptions of what is beautiful.
