Hi Suzanne,
Did you send out something to these Churches beforehand? If so, What did you send them?
If you didn't send anyshst out are you just going to hope for an opportunity to speak at the Church.
Some years ago the Toledo Chapter sent 700 letters to all of the Churches, Synagogues, Mosques, and any other Religious group. We sent information about blindness and offered to come to speak to any of their groups or to assist members who are blind or losing vision.
Unfortunately, we only got a few responses. We did follow up on these responses.
I think your plan might be really worthwhile.
I would just like to know more about it because it might be something other Chapters can do.
It might be interesting just to have a group visit the Church.
It would be good for people to know a little about the Church if practices are different from what you are used to and to make sure that your actions fit into the Cultural Norms of the Church so that no one is offended.

> Good Afternoon,
>
> The Cleveland Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind of Ohio is taking on an initiative of recruiting and educating Greater Cleveland and its surrounding areas. We are improving our efforts to bring about awareness about "what it means to be blind".
> Therefore, we have implemented a method to increase our membership and to educate the community about the NFB and blindness. Each month starting with March 2013, we will visit several Churches throughout Northeast Ohio: addressing their congregation, distributing literature and making ourselves readily available.
>
> The Cleveland Chapter is inviting anyone who would like to join us in this endeavor. On March 17, 2013, we will attend East Mt. Zion Baptist Church located at 9990 Euclid Ave in Cleveland Ohio. The service will start at 10:45 A.M. and usually ends around 12:30 P.M. We are requesting everyone to sit together to form a united front. There is power in numbers!! You do not have to be a member of the Cleveland Chapter to join us.
>
> If you have questions and for more information, please contact Cheryl Fields, Membership Chairperson at 216-932-6644. Note! More information will be coming about where the next Church will be.
