We will be thinking about you. Let me know when you march. If I can come ,
I will. I like marching bands.

Hi,

Richard sent me an email about that a few days ago, but unfortunately I
won't be able to go. With my marching band performances on Saturdays I
think the first meeting I'll be able to get to will be in November. The
picnic sounds really fun though.

Glad that you found resolution with your travel problems. Can you send me
your street address again? I have lost it and can't turn it up in the mass
of my deleted email.

Thanks,
Barbara

Hi all,

I was able to get my no-shows revoked pretty easily. As I suspected the
first one was the result of the dispatcher calling the wrong number, (the
customer service rep accidentally hit 0 in place of an 8, which of course is
a very simple error). The second time was a problem because the
reservationist who took my trip information put my cell phone down for the
first half of the trip, but not in the return information so it wasn't on
the record in both places. Another issue was that although I wrote my
apartment number down on my forms and verbally mentioned it several times
when reviewing information with the certification worker it didn't make it
into my records for some reason. Since all these were paperwork issues on
Project Mobility's end and they have been fixed by the appeals worker, I'm
hoping that these problems won't happen for a little while.

In the meantime though, I'm still going to take my more time sensitive trips
by car with friends. I might reconsider using PM for practicums next
semester if the rest of my trips this semester go a little more according to
plan.

It still bothers me that they won't even at least try a second time in
instances where they do things like accidentally dial the wrong number. I
don't understand why the rider is slammed with the no-show if it was a
mistake on the worker's part of if someone in their department didn't
accurately complete the proper paperwork. I'm thankful that it was so easy
to resolve, but it was frustrating nonetheless.

Hi,

There are a few reasons why I opted to take paratransit instead of the city
bus. I don't actually "live" in Dayton---I do during the school year of
course, but it's not really a city I'm familiar with and with my school and
work schedules I can't easily go exploring to figure things out. My thought
was that since I'd primarily be on UD's campus, I could just learn the area
around campus really well and use paratransit to get to anywhere else I'd
want to go. This particular trip also had to happen at night if it was
going to happen at all and be 7 miles from my location, which further
complicated matters.

I'm starting to question whether or not paratransit would be reliable in a
practicum situation, even if it were a subscription trip. It took an hour
for the driver to come back for me the second time this weekend, so even if
I were to schedule way in advance for my pick ups and something weird
happened there would be no guarantee I'd make it to my site on time. Since
that counts as a class with my professors supervising and one of the grade
criteria is professionalism including punctuality, I'm thinking that pairing
up with a student who has a car might be the best way to go. I know we
start in pairs anyway so this isn't a big deal for the moment, but it would
have been nice to have an option to get to the place I'm going independently
in case their car wasn't working, or they couldn't go that day, or later on
in senior year when I'll be working alone. . I'll just have to make sure
that schedules line up with the other person.

Kaiti,

Often, paratransit is not reliable. Can you take the city bus instead?

I used to take paratransit to work and it would either get me there too
early or too late. A couple of times, I got home past 9 p.m. after I was
picked up at 7:30, an hour and a half after my work tour ended. I decided
to take the city bus, even though it required three transfers. At least, I
got to work on time, and I was able to catch the first bus after my shift
ended.

Milena
