[Ohio-talk] Summer opportunity for blind youth, Braille Beats Fine Arts Program

Hi all,

I realize that this is a bit off the beaten path for discussion on
this list, but this could potentially be a great opportunity for youth
interested in the arts.  Several members of the student division,
including myself, are long-time students of the program, and some of
us have as many as 7 years under our belts.  I am copying the
information which was posted to the NFB music talk and the Music
Education Network for the Visually Impaired (MENVI) list serves below.
 If parents have any questions about the student experience I would be
happy to answer them, as well as to put them in touch with other
members of the student division who can also speak as seasoned members
of the program.  It's a lot of fun and a great way to learn music
skills for hobbiests and aspiring career musicians alike.

 held at the Lion's Bear Lake Camp close to Lapeer Michigan


 The *BRAILLE BEATS FINE ARTS PROGRAM Summer Residential Intensive*is
an experiential arts program.

 The *Music*faculty are active musicians. The program includes the
following areas: Music History; musical styles and forms; Instrument
Exploration and individual instrument support; *Music**Theory*, Form &
Analysis, *Rhythm & Ear Training;*Music Notation including *Music
Braille;**Performance: Solo & Ensemble*; Concert Prep; *Voice*:
Individual, Ensemble and Choir; *Keyboarding*; Composition; Music
Technology; Recording & Digital Editing; and Scale Olympics. *2014
Theme: American Music *

 *Art *focuses on experiencing a variety of media while having broad
exposure to Art History, Styles and Forms as well as a concentration
on the elements of design.

 *Movement*sessions work on Spatial Orientation, Flexibility,
Self-discipline and Relaxation Techniques.
