Kaiti. Regarding crowdfunding: Go for it!! I've donated to causes on Go Fund
Me, and the Federation is definitely very appropriate for the site and crowd
funding in general. Would love to see how it goes.

Hi all,
Something we might want to consider:
Have any of you heard of Go Fund Me? It's basically a "crowd funding"
site, or an online fundraising platform where people can donate money.
It uses platforms like Paypal and We Pay to distribute the funds directly
into a bank account. These platforms have been successful in raising monehy
for people to have expensive medical procedures, college students to gain
money for tuition, and other costs like funeral expenses and adoption funds
for aspiring parents.
I'm using a site called You Caring to do this for my trip to Jamaica, and
really like it. For the most part, it's very accessible.
This may be something that could be useful to us; another way to get the NFB
out there and take donations year-round.
Thoughts?

I mentioned this to eric while we were in the middle of planning the
convention.
There are nine or ten other crowd-funding sites that say they specifically
fund non-profits. I think it would be worth a try.

What kind of fees are involved? There is one of those sites where the
organization is actually charged a higher percentage if they DO NOT reach
their goal! We would need to watch the fine print.

At least once a month on average, someone tells me we really should write
some grant proposals. I say I think that?s great! why don?t you get the
process started, and let me know how I can help. When you have something you
feel pretty good about, let me know, and I?ll take a look at it.
So far, that has always been the end of that conversation.
I am not above trying to raise money for this organization in any way that
is legal, moral, and ethical.
Therefore, anyone out there who has a Crowd funding, Kick Starter, or any
other idea, please do what you can to develop it and bring it to me.
Thanks.
Eric

The only thing I may need help with is the bank-related stuff with
Paypal. Sherry may need to do that because I can imagine that the
account number isn't something that we'd want just anyone to have
access to (not that I would do anything, but for transparency's sake,
and for the sake of following procedures and proper business), but I
can otherwise set up and manage the campaign, work with Aleeha to make
sure it gets shared over Twitter, etc.
