Yes, that certainly makes sense; plus, by always writing about restoring
sight as the solution, authors undermine the idea of adjusting to and
learning to live with vision loss.

I think what she was pointing out was that just because sighted people
believe we all want to see again it isn't the truth.  I agree we all have
different feelings about this and I don't think the author was speaking for
all of us.  I think her main point was that when authors write novels about
blind people restoring sight is not the only way to resolve the conflict in
the story.  Authors should learn about blind people and resolve it in other
ways.
