Hi Chuck,

I use Seeing Eye GPS which is a subscription base app. When I purchased
the app, it was free in the beginning. In order to use the app, you
have a choice of either paying monthly, yearly, or a 3 year
subscription. I believe there is a one-time subscription. It was great
for what I use. Most of the commercial GPS do not announce streets that
you are passing and the direction it runs. This is why a blindness app
was developed to give you more information than the commercial ones.
Even the commercial ones have a subscription I believe because all of
the maps is retrieved from the internet. If you use any GPS app, get
yourself a battery pack because it will use up a lot of juice from your
phone very quickly.

Check out www.applevis.com and listen to some of the GPS demos.

That is what I did before purchasing a GPS app.

Sincerely,

Lisa Hall
