Dear Fellow Federationist:
You have the privilege to be part of this list serve as do I.
Remember it is a privilege and not a right. The NFB of Ohio owns this list,
and I will not permit the list to be used to attack the Federation or its'
leaders at any level.
This is not a list for the promotion of the American Council of the Blind in
any way shape or form. You do not see this happening at the national level
with all of the many listserves that are out there and it will not continue
to happen here.
I will tell you that whoever believes that it is appropriate to continue
to post ACB Ohio materials on this list should understand that it will not
be tolerated. You will find yourself removed from this list without another
warning if I see another of this post.
We are very tolerant in this organization, and in the history of Ohio-Talk
only two people have been removed. They are David Cohen who was removed by
Eric Duffy after an attack on the organization, and Denver Jones whom I
removed without hesitation today.
. Dr. Smith I thank you for responding to Denver Jone's message before I did
because I was at work. The fact is that you can ask questions no one on
this list has asked more questions than I have. But members of this
organization including those on this list are expected to conduct themselves
in a way that represents the values of the National Federation of the Blind.
I am not going to be threatened by those who say they are going to join the
ACB. We have the freedom of choice. We would all be wise to remember that
there is a policy prohibiting dual membership however.
The NFB is involved in advocacy and other work around the world. Remember it
was an NFB member who just got elected as the president of the world blind
union. I am proud of who we are and what we do.
But when someone attacks the NFB that gets to me like a gun was shot
directly in to my heart. I have given my life to serve in the NFB and any
one that attacks us will be dealt with. I hope Denver you find happiness and
know the NFB is better without anyone who claims to be a member and attacks
us. To those of you who love the NFBO shout it out like I will. I will tell
you now that anyone who attacks NFBO on our list will not be able to do it
again. We will defend ourselves. I read this message and remind you of
nfb.org nfbohio.org and tell you that we have a listserv for everything you
can think of. The nfb is not an organization that makes blank claims but one
that delivers. We must keep focus but will defend what we love with all
resources. I know this is long and still doesn't say all that I could. I
agree with my friend in Cleveland we will end the thread and again anyone
that speaks against the NFB on this list serve will only do it once. The
end of this message. Richard

Deer in app be family,

Wow! Wow! Wow! If this information is available from other sources, why
are we not receiving it then? Four example, why have we not been told that
Obama signed off and forwarded the Marrakesh treatise to the Senate? Isn't
this something we considered our selves to be proactive on? Isn't this
legislative and important to us? Doesn't the NFB consider it self to be the
most legislatively proactive blindness organization available as a resource?
So, I ask again, if this is available through other sources, why are we not
receiving it?

I am extremely curious as to why we would be upset regarding where the
information comes from, as long as it is blindness related or relevant to
blind people! There are so many things that have been occurring, that make
me question my involvement in this organization! For example, the
unprofessionalism at board meetings! Also, not being permitted to question
issues regarding our treasures report! Now we are backbiting or complaining
about where information comes from! I would think we would be grateful, that
someone shared this information, regardless of its source. Shouldn't we just
be pleased that the information is shared? I do not see anyone else sharing
this kind of information with us! So I for one am grateful that Carole has
taken the initiative to share things like this. I for one am now going to go
and pay my dues to the ACB Ohio so I can be as informed. Realizing now of
course that the leadership of this affiliate does not give a damn about us
being informed, I will take action on my own. I have never felt more cheated
in my life. Nor have I ever experienced this much fighting within the
membership body of a nonprofit organization! I would encourage each and
everyone of you that want to be informed to take the same steps! Sense, our
leadership is aware that it is available through other sources and does
nothing to share it with us!

Respectfully,

Denver. Jones

characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.

System in 2011, it determined that the system fell well short of meeting the
needs of Americans who are deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind, blind, or
low-vision.
>>
>>
>>
>> In the intervening time, the FCC has implemented a new set of technical
rules intended to ensure that all Americans receive the information they
need to seek shelter and safety in the face of an imminent emergency, such
as a tornado. In order to assess the implementation of these improvements,
the FCC and FEMA will conduct a new test over television and radio on
September 28 at 2:20 pm ET.
>>
>>

>> However, the FCC cannot, by itself, effectively assess the nationwide
implementation of the test for all Americans who are blind or have low
vision. Thus, the FCC wants to hear from you about your experience with the
test. They are putting together a simple form on their website that will ask
for your contact information (to determine geographical region), the source
to which you were listening (broadcast TV, cable, radio, satellite), any
complications you may have experienced, and specific feedback on your
experience.

>> The FCC particularly hopes to learn whether the audio is clear, distinct,
and informative. The FCC also needs to know whether the text crawl is
broadcast with sufficient contrast, whether the text is large enough to see,
and whether the crawl moves at an effective and understandable speed for
viewers with low vision. For those with both usable vision and hearing, the
FCC is further interested in whether the text and audio have parity. The FCC
also wants to know whether Spanish-language channels broadcast a
Spanish-language alert.
