To allI am sorry that some of you may feel very unhappy about the source of information that I shared. I am on a great number of email lists, some are blind related and some not. I receive a lot of emails from organizations and I don't know about the rest of you, but I read them and appreciate information that is relevant and being shared. There are many missed opportunities for us to make a difference and this would be one. I was sharing what I felt was valuable and important information that ALL blind organizations could come together on and make their voices heard, as I had not seen any of this information posted or shared through any other source on Ohio Talk. Who in our affiliate had this same information from my postings? Who shared it? Would you rather be uninformed and thus appear uninterested in giving your responses or opinions or helping improve things? Who is it in our organization that is responsible for researching, finding and sharing this type of information? Is there a committee? Is it the Board? Is it the President and Vice President? I don't know who it is. I am not sure of the reasons for being unhappy over getting the information. Is it that ACBO had it first? I understand there alledgedly are issues between the two organizations, but aren't we working together on some things? It is almost like TV station ABC telling employees not to listen or watch NBC or CBS or FOX networks and learn or share anything from them because ABC will be mad. Good information is important and beneficial. I wonder if ACB would feel the same way if the reverse were shared? I guess I will refrain from sharing any other information that I get in any form as not to offend anyone. Remember that unless someone else within the NFB makes the effort to share such information, we will all miss out on opportunities.Carol Sent from Yahoo Mail on Android

Now hold on Sir!
I don't know you meaning I have never met you or at least do not remember it, but with all due respect, your message is and was not respectful in my opinion!
This is not the place for such rantings and unsubstantiated commentary and claims in my opinion and your rush to judgment is not helpful or informative despite its seeming passion.
When you throw dirt, you hold out the possibility of some of it getting on you as well so it is best not to do it!
If you have issues with the leadership of this affiliate, I challenge and advise you to take it up directly with the appropriate people and at the right time and in the proper context please?

Deer in app be family,
Wow! Wow! Wow! If this information is available from other sources, why are we not receiving it then? Four example, why have we not been told that Obama signed off and forwarded the Marrakesh treatise to the Senate? Isn't this something we considered our selves to be proactive on? Isn't this legislative and important to us? Doesn't the NFB consider it self to be the most legislatively proactive blindness organization available as a resource? So, I ask again, if this is available through other sources, why are we not receiving it?
I am extremely curious as to why we would be upset regarding where the information comes from, as long as it is blindness related or relevant to blind people! There are so many things that have been occurring, that make me question my involvement in this organization! For example, the unprofessionalism at board meetings! Also, not being permitted to question issues regarding our treasures report! Now we are backbiting or complaining about where information comes from! I would think we would be grateful, that someone shared this information, regardless of its source. Shouldn't we just be pleased that the information is shared? I do not see anyone else sharing this kind of information with us! So I for one am grateful that Carole has taken the initiative to share things like this. I for one am now going to go and pay my dues to the ACB Ohio so I can be as informed. Realizing now of course that the leadership of this affiliate does not give a damn about us being informed, I will take action on my own. I have never felt more cheated in my life. Nor have I ever experienced this much fighting within the membership body of a nonprofit organization! I would encourage each and everyone of you that want to be informed to take the same steps! Sense, our leadership is aware that it is available through other sources and does nothing to share it with us!
Respectfully,
Denver. Jones

Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.

>> When the FCC last conducted a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System in 2011, it determined that the system fell well short of meeting the needs of Americans who are deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind, blind, or low-vision.
>>
>>
>>
>> In the intervening time, the FCC has implemented a new set of technical rules intended to ensure that all Americans receive the information they need to seek shelter and safety in the face of an imminent emergency, such as a tornado. In order to assess the implementation of these improvements, the FCC and FEMA will conduct a new test over television and radio on September 28 at 2:20 pm ET.
>>
>>
>>
>> However, the FCC cannot, by itself, effectively assess the nationwide implementation of the test for all Americans who are blind or have low vision. Thus, the FCC wants to hear from you about your experience with the test. They are putting together a simple form on their website that will ask for your contact information (to determine geographical region), the source to which you were listening (broadcast TV, cable, radio, satellite), any complications you may have experienced, and specific feedback on your experience.
>>
>>
>>
>> The FCC particularly hopes to learn whether the audio is clear, distinct, and informative. The FCC also needs to know whether the text crawl is broadcast with sufficient contrast, whether the text is large enough to see, and whether the crawl moves at an effective and understandable speed for viewers with low vision. For those with both usable vision and hearing, the FCC is further interested in whether the text and audio have parity. The FCC also wants to know whether Spanish-language channels broadcast a Spanish-language alert.

>>
>> For a day or two after the test on September 28, you can provide your feedback on thePublic Safety Support Center website.
