Special Keynote Speaker Annoucement

We are pleased to announce that the keynote speaker for the NFB eBooks and EPUB accessibility event will be George Kerscher, Ph.D. <https://nfb.org/sites/all/modules/civicrm/extern/url.php?u=6393&qid=1619767>

George Kerscher is President of the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF), Chief Innovations Officer for the DAISY Consortium, Senior Advisor, Global Literacy at Benetech and Chair of the Steering Council of the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI).

Dr. Kerscher's topic will be "Ushering in the born accessible era." This presentation will explain how the EPUB Accessibility Specification 1.0 will enable publishers to boast about the fine work they have done to make their publications born accessible to persons with disabilities. It will go on to explain what it takes to meet the minimum baseline for accessibility. Finally a vision of how the certification of born accessible publications can impact education in both K-12 and higher education will be imagined.
