I want to share a little about AIRA. I found out about this exciting program
at the national convention this summer and was so excited. AIRA provided me
with Google Glass and MIFI (a portable wifi system) and a program that I
downloaded onto my cell phone. When I need help I put on the Google Glass
and launch the program. I usually wear wireless bone conduction head phones.
I contact the AIRA staff and they provide assistance. This is a monthly
charge depending on the amount of time per month I need assistance. I will
tell you a few of the things I have done since getting started with AIRA
less than 2 weeks ago. I shopped at Costco, Bath & Body Works, Best Buy, and
Dollar General. I took the bus to have lunch with my son and was guided to
the restaurant and back to the bus stop and the AIRA staff read the menu to
me. I organized my pantry and read mail. At this time they have an Explorer
program so some of the final issues can be worked out but it should be
widely available soon. I love it and am thrilled to have this as another
tool to use in my daily life. I think of all kinds of other places where
this can be helpful. Yes, it is pretty expensive but can be worth the cost
for many of us. I know many people are attending Washington Seminar today
and have heard great things about touring DC using AIRA. I am just sharing
my experiences to get the word out.
