Dear Fellow Federationists,

Have you read the President's Notebook lately? If not, you are missing some important information needed to serve our organization. Thank you to the small handful of affiliates that replied to last week's request for information about their state board. This leaves most affiliates having not responded yet. Please respond by Wednesday of this week if possible.

We should extend a big welcome to new presidents in Vermont and Connecticut. I also wish to extend a huge thank you to Gary Allen who has served as our president in the Connecticut affiliate during the past two years. Moe Cook is our new president in Vermont and Maryanne Melley is our president in Connecticut. We look forward to working with these newly elected leaders.

The November Presidential Release should be available later this week.

2018 Blind and Low Vision Voters Experience Survey:

After voting in the 2018 midterm election, blind and low vision voters are encouraged to complete our 2018 Blind and Low Vision Voter Experience Survey. Blind and low vision voters who cast their ballot at an early voting center, local polling place on Election Day, or by absentee ballot, should complete the survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/9BBTKZP. 

2019 Student Funding Program for Washington Seminar:

>From November 1 to November 25, the national student division, with support from our national organization, is accepting applications from students who are in need of financial assistance to attend the 2019 Washington Seminar. Santa Letters:
Santa Claus has made the staff at the National Federation of the Blind Jernigan Institute honorary elves. He has asked us to help him send letters in Braille to very young blind boys and girls (those under the age of 10) in the United States.

Between November 12 and December 14, parents can go online at www.nfb.org/santa-letters <http://www.nfb.org/santa-letters>  and fill out a Santa Braille Letter request form. The form can also be printed and faxed to 410-685-2340.  Beginning December 3, the Braille letters from Santa will start going out to boys and girls around the country. The Braille letter will also be accompanied by a print copy (for mom and dad to read) as well as some other fun Christmastime activities.

The deadline for letter requests is December 14, to ensure that a return letter in Braille is received before Christmas.  For more information, please visit our website at www.nfb.org <http://www.nfb.org> .

The Candy Store, an online seller of bulk candy, has been tracking candy sales in every state for the past 11 years, and it released an annual list of the most popular Halloween candy in every state, based on the number of pounds ordered over a given year. Some classics Milky Way, Candy Corn and Skittles are beloved across the country, but other states have particular favorites: Connecticut residents love Almond Joy, and Louisianans can't get enough Lemonheads.
