Yeah I heard about the Bird Box challenge pretty silly if you ask me! I saw the movie and it was ok but Spoiler Alert ending where the mother and two kids found a school for the blind as sanctuary was interesting I thought but as far as the challenge as NFB members we really need to go out there and educate the sighted community imo.

I have read reviews of it.  I am a fan of Sandra Bullock but this does not
interest me.  In an apocolyptic world, it seems, enforced blindness
prevails.  The BOOK OF ELI movie with Denzel Washington had a true zinger
in it.  I remember telling my late husband about the movie and offered to
save it for him if he wanted to watch for himself but he said no.  He was
not particularly interested in scifi.  It is not on my cable, I do not
subscribe to all these other things.

Oh,
This is a very good question, and I plan to have a phone conference explaining how you are for testimony and the structure of that testimony. However in the meantime if you want to start putting together anecdotal information explaining situations where the reduction of service has affected you personally and explaining what you want in terms of more budget to expand routes that will intern help ?Cleveland economy the environment etc. that would be helpful. The most important thing is to be clear explain with the difficulty is and how increase in budget would fix this problem I see expanding service availability.

Please excuse dictation errors, I will expand on this later.

Hi Michael,

Can you give the List an idea on how to write a testimony on how public transportation impacts an rider's life? Many of us take paratransit, but whether it's available depends on regular bus and train routes. If the buses and trains don't go to a location, neither does Paratransit. I take buses and trains, and although I transfer from one conveyance to another, that's not what irritates me. What really frustrates me is the waiting time between connections. Often, I could wait up to an hour between a transfer, which, aside from my frustration, also adds to how long it takes for me to arrive at my destination. Ubers are a possibility, and at times, I take them. I shouldn't need to resort to that, however. A city the size f Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati and even Dayton, should be able to provide timely and efficient public transportation. The problem is that legislators don't see the necessity of increasing transportation to the public. You would be hard pressed to find any of them on a city bus or train, but this is how the other half needs to get around.

Pardon my carrying on, but it would be great if you or Sheri could provide a outline on how to write such a testimony.

Best Regards,

Milena

Yes, I am on the C.A.G. for R.T.A. in Dayton.  I totally agree with you but
I rarely take Para-Transit because I do qualify for other independent
organizations.  Some of the same issues of occur with them also because of
poor business operations and they are taking or cutting into the funds that
financially fund RTA.  I have made suggestions with  one organization about
return trips and it seems to be working.  Rarely do I have to wait an hour
to get home or elsewhere.

Being a Senior helps also because being at least 62 has something to do with
non-medical trips.

I personally just didn?t like the movie. There was no effort to handle blindness in the way we would do it, but that isn?t why I didn?t like the movie.

Now in order to get fifteen minutes of fame many people are putting on blindfolds and doing who knows what and getting hurt.

It is a pretty active news story right now.

I didn't see the movie, but I did read the book, It was interesting enough that I wanted to see how it ended. The last thing the producers were thinking of were correct blindness techniques, they wanted a movie people wood watch. They succeeded.  The harmful part, besides people being stupid and getting hurt,is that the film shows an incorrect view of blindness whitch could effect people's lives.  I don't think I'll watch the movie

Another thing that has been discussed is all of the issues surrounding
public transportation.  There are so many problems that some of us feel that
O.D. O. T. should be in charge of the whole system.  The State of OH. Allows
independent transportation companies drive for the medical insurance
organizations and this cuts into the busing funds. We need government to be
more in control of all transportation for the public.  It's a big mess.
