We had our chapter meeting today and someone who has a birthday tomorrow was trying to set up a fundraiser for us on Facebook. She could not find us at all and was concerned. We explained that we are listed under Ohio Council of the blind but you have to know that. How many of our members don’t even know that. I didn’t know it until we were trying to get things set up for the adult literacy program.

Last night I saw the birthday fund raiser Richard created for the affiliate, and this morning I saw one created by LUCAS CASSI. I offer the following as something we need to be aware of and work together to resolve and not as criticism. I put it on the list for the benefit of everyone. Our affiliate is registered as the Ohio Council of the Blind (DBA National Federation of the Blind of Ohio) with the IRS and appropriate state offices. When creating fund raisers with Facebook, the data about the organization is pulled from Guidestar, and of course it lists us as the Ohio Council of the Blind. There is no mention of the National Federation of the Blind of Ohio.
