Fellow Ohio Federationists. Good evening! I am writing to ask for a little
help on two issues.
First, as many of you may know I recently moved here from Upstate New York
where I had lived for the past 15 years. One of the reasons I moved back
to my home State Ohio is to redevelop a career. Prior to living in Ohio, I
worked for the State of California for 13 years and then worked in Upstate
New York as a Medicare Appeal Officer for an additional 8 years.
Unfortunately, I lost the Medicare Appeal Officer position in 2014 due to
the fact that I could not read material fast enough to keep up with my
employer's continuing increasing caseload quotas. Once I lost that
position, I was unable to locate another position where I lived in New York
because of a combination of transportation issues and my rather specialized
background. So, although I did some independent publishing and worked some
as a freelance writer, I haven't worked full-time consistently since 2014.
I aim to rectify that here in Ohio, but have decided at my age (55) I would
rather work for myself as a freelance copywriter instead of working a
traditional job for a traditional employer. I have sought the assistance of
OOD in obtaining some training to strengthen my copywriting skills and
getting established as a freelancer here in Ohio. Unfortunately, OOD has
some rather archaic rules regarding self-employed individuals that have to
be followed in order to receive their assistance in pursuing
self-employment. One of those requirements is that I must interview 3
individuals who are currently working as a copywriter. Being newly
relocated here in Ohio I am still in the process of making local
professional contacts. So I am writing in hopes that perhaps my Federation
family can assist me in locating working copywriters to interfere. I am
particularly throwing this out to Ohio Talk because if possible I would
love to interview individuals who are blind who are working as Copywriters
so that I cannot only show OOD how viable the care is, but to show them
unequivocally that blind individuals are doing the job. So if any of you
know of working copywriters who would be willing to be interviewed I would
greatly appreciate it if you could put me in touch with them. So that we
don't bog the list down for other people or disclose anyone's private
contact information via the list, you can either contact me with their
contact information via toddelzey at gmail.com or call me at 315-879-1746, or
feel free to share my contact information with them as well if you think
they would prefer to reach out rather than me reach out to them.
Secondly, when I moved to Ohio my 18 year old son decided to relocate here
with me. He will be a senior this year attending Dayton Fairmont High
School. He is hoping to find work while attending school. Consequently, we
are looking for his first car. Since it is his first car, I am looking for
a used car from a reliable private party who is looking to sell their car.
Perhaps even a Senior who is looking to sell because they no longer wish to
drive. So, I am also hoping that if you know of anyone interested in
selling a used car for somewhere in the $5,000 neighborhood that has been
well maintained, that you can put them in contact with me. Again, please
contact me off-line at toddelzey at gmail.com or 315-879-1746 if you know of
someone who might be interested. Finally, while I would prefer to purchase
a car in the Dayton area getting it would be easier, for the right vehicle
I would be happy to consider it regardless of location.
Thank you for considering this request, and thank you for any assistance
you can offer.
Sincerely,
Todd Elzey
