> POSITION SUMMARY:
> The Disability Manager is responsible for advancing strategic policies and programs for people with disabilities in the City of Toledo and advising the Mayor’s Office and City Departments on the needs of residents with disabilities. The Disability Manager will create and promote programs that make the City of Toledo more inclusive, accessible and a great place to live as well as ensure that people with disabilities have a voice in City Government. This position will serve as the City’s ADA Title II Coordinator and ensure enforcement of the City’s ADA Transition Plan, which establishes a mandatory, coordinated process to construct capital and operational improvements for city facilities so they become accessible. Additional duties include enforcing relevant city ADA policies, responding to accessibility requests, reviewing grievances, and ensuring that residents with disabilities receive timely and appropriate constituent resources and referrals.  The Manager will serve as liaison between City Government and the local community of people with disabilities.

> ·         Serve as the liaison between City government and the local community of people with disabilities.
> ·         Develop, promote, and advance strategic policies and programs for people with disabilities in the City of Toledo.
> ·         Work with the Mayor’s Office, City departments, agencies and offices to develop policies and procedures to promote the well-being of people with disabilities within the City.
> ·         Serve as City ADA Title II Coordinator.
> ·         Oversee the update to and enforcement of the City’s ADA Transition Plan, which establishes a mandatory, coordinated process to construct capital and operational improvements of City facilities.
> ·         Develop procedures and resources to ensure City materials are available in alternative formats for residents with disabilities. Develop procedures to have effective communication auxiliary aides and services (such as Braille, Sign Language and Real Time Capturing) available upon request for people who need these services.
> ·         Ensure disability access obligations are included and reviewed in City Request for Proposals and contract language.
> ·         Implement and monitor City’s Grievance procedures for disability complaints. Work with City departments, individuals with disabilities, and community agencies to resolve complaints.
> ·         Develop appropriate assessment and monitoring tools to ensure City compliance with ADA related issues.
> ·         Performs other duties as required.
> REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
> Knowledge of:

> ·         Americans with Disability Act (ADA) and other Federal, State and local civil rights laws and regulations.

> ·         Experience developing and implementing strategic policy initiatives.
