My fellow Federation Leaders!!

The weather outside is fryte-full in that it is so hot that it feels like
anything could fry if you were to put it on the sidewalk or driveway. In
any event, the hot weather always reminds me that our National Convention is
right around the corner, 24 days away in fact. An of course, I always have
to think about what to PAC. This, like all years, I need your help!! Stand
by for the PAC Committee's ask.

First, let me bring you up to date regarding where we are on the PAC plan.
The key indicator we use to measure the health of the PAC plan is our "total
projected annualized" figure. At the end of each month, we calculate this
by taking the actual amount we have received year to date and adding to it
what the remaining months of the year look like based on the current monthly
contribution figure. You will see that amount in each report we share with
you. Last year, at the end of May, that figure was $464,958.37. At the end
of May this year, we stand at $495,474.98.

This is tremendous news and I am so very proud of our Federation family.
Last year, when the Pandemic started and economic hardship set in, I thought
for sure we would suffer losses on the PAC Plan. Instead, we have grown the
fund. Hats off to all of us!!

Like the computer PAC man, though, I am always restless and hungry for more.
Our goal is always to keep growing the plan. Convention provides a great
opportunity every year to do so.

As you know, it has been our tradition to offer incentives for folks to join
the Plan. When we meet in person, (we ask affiliates to donate PAC Swag to
get folks back to the PAC Table. None of us will forget Louisiana Spices,
Iowa Scissors, Nebraska Popcorn Balls, Kona Coffee from Hawaii, Whose it
Ties from New Jersey, and the like. During last year's Convention, we
assembled cash prizes given out in the form of gift cards. We plan on doing
that again this year, and we need affiliates to donate some cash to help us
out. Here is the procedure for donating to PAC Prizes.

Please make checks payable to National Federation of the Blind, 200
East Wells Street, Baltimore, MD 21230, Attention: Fiscal Services - PAC.
You should also send an email to PAC at nfb.org <mailto:PAC at nfb.org> to let us
know you are sending a contribution for the contest prizes and the full name
of the organization that the contribution is from. We want to make sure we
recognize your organization in our thank-you list. You can contact Scott
LaBarre (slabarre at nfb.org <mailto:slabarre at nfb.org> ) or extension 2424 or
Bridgid Burke (bburke at nfb.org <mailto:bburke at nfb.org> or extension 2271) if
you have any questions.

I want to give a shout out to Colorado, Louisiana, and New Jersey
for already contributing to PAC prizes. I will sign out for now, but below
my signature, you will find the May 2021 PAC report so that you can see how
well your affiliate is doing. I am looking forward to a PAC full
Convention!!!

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.
