[Ohio-Talk] Question for discussion

I am unfamiliar with ride share, but years ago I came to a hospital to take
a friend home and the doctor and others made a big hullabaloo about me being
incompetent. They stated that they absolutely would not permit their patient
to leave with a blind person. They also felt strongly that a blind person
would not be able to properly administer my friend's medication to him. It
was one pill however many times a day that I would be giving him.
My friend was a neighbor of mine who lived down the hall in an apartment
building. I explained that I was going to call a cab to get us both back and
I would be able to help him with food and his medication just fine. There
was a lot of yelling going on and the doctor was refusing to do the
paperwork for him to leave.
My friend swore at them all quite a bit and told them how stupid they were.
He told me, "Let's go." I told him I wanted to get his prescription before
we left. Somehow a nurse brought the script to us, but they said they were
holding him there until a competent person came to take him home.
My friend and I just up and left. He was a little unsteady on his feet, but
okay holding onto my arm. I called a cab. Nothing more came of it.

Subject: [Ohio-Talk] Question for discussion

Have you ever accompanied someone home after surgery using a ride share? Can
a hospital or doctor's office refuse to let you do this as a blind person?
If you had trouble what did you do?
