Hello,

It is a sad day in the NFB of Ohio. We have lost the services of one of our own who has been a vital part of this organization for quite a long time. As all of you by now have read, Eric Duffy has chosen to leave our organization, and he will be missed. In my email yesterday, I stated how vital all of those involved in recent events are to our movement, and Eric’s accomplishments rank very high on that list. I do not have time to spell out all of those would be, but I believe all of us know that he has played a huge part in the success that we have felt over the last several decades. On a personal note, Erik is the individual who brought me into the Federation even though I had been a part of the merchants division for a while, I never did anything else with the Federation. That changed when I was elected president of that division. I knew very little about the Federation. Erik encouraged me to start coming to board meetings, and then before I knew it I was volunteering at Bell Academy And the rest is history. at the chapter level, Erik, with a couple of absences due to moves out of town, has been an active member for quite a long time. And has helped keep the small chapter afloat many times over the years. And, on top of all of this, I consider Erik a friend.

For everything that you have done for the NFB of Ohio, I personally would like to thank you, Erik. And I hope that someday the time will come that you will return.

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Everyday we raise the expectations of blind people because we know that low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want, blindness is not what holds you back.
