The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.

Subject: [Ohio-Talk] Discussion at Clovernook tonight (Thursday) with live stream link

Hi all,

Tonight from 8 to 9 PM eastern time me, Emily Kiehl, Sam Foulkes, Brian Anderson and David Grimes are going to be part of this discussion which will be live streamed and archived to YouTube (https://youtube.com/@IRiS__UC) and Twitter (https://twitter.com/IRiS__UC).

Virtual attendees are able to pose questions and thoughts, which we will introduce into the in-person conversation when possible. It’s happening in person at the Clovernook Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Cincinnati.

General Info: The Alloy Series is an interdisciplinary discussion series coordinated by the Institute for Research in Sensing (IRiS). The purpose is to bring diverse perspectives to bear on emerging topics in sensing, perception and/or sensor technology development, while purposefully engaging with the city of Cincinnati and the curiosity of our community members. In this way, Alloys are an extension of IRiS’ core mission to bring together diverse voices, from STEM fields to the humanities and fine and performing arts, to better understand histories and horizons in the study of sensing. Alloys are informal pop-up events, hosted at unusual locations around town, and always free and open to the public. We are also increasingly collaborating with community organizations to develop and curate these events.

Voices: Here’s a bit more info about your fellow conversationalists in case you’re curious:
