Hello everyone,

I wanted to forward a letter that Senate Aging Committee Chairman Bob Casey
sent to Senate leadership this morning. The letter calls on Senate Majority
Leader Chuck Schumer and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to improve
the accessibility of the U.S. Senate’s technology for people with
disabilities. While Chairman Casey continues to push federal departments
and agencies to improve the accessibility of their technology, the Chairman
realizes that the Senate itself can do better. The letter specifically asks
for improved accessibility standards for Senate contractors, routine
accessibility scanning of Senate websites, electronic accessibility
training for Senate employees, and resources on electronic accessibility
for Senate staff.

Senator Tammy Duckworth co-lead this letter with Chairman Casey. The letter
was also signed by Senators Maggie Hassan, John Fetterman, Amy Klobuchar,
Bernie Sanders, and Richard Blumenthal. A copy of the letter is attached,
and you can view a press release at the following link: press release
<https://www.aging.senate.gov/press-releases/casey-colleagues-call-on-senate-leadership-to-make-senate-technology-more-accessible>
.

We appreciate the help and feedback that you’ve provided as we’ve pushed to
make federal technology accessible. If you have any questions about our
latest effort, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Sincerely,

*Douglas Hartman*
