[Perform-Talk] Accessible Music Software

Hi, Lizzy,

Unfortunately Finale is still not accessible. As I'm finishing my B.M
I'm still using Lime to complete the assignments I'm working on. I
know that for a time Sibelius was accessible, though I've heard
something about it not being available in an accessible format
anymore.

What you can do, depending on whether or not your needs will allow for
it, is purchase one of the "light" versions of the software. I
believe they are sold in a piano version, a package for voice, and a
package for solo instruments but don't quote me on the specifics. If
you're just needing Lime to compose piano music only, though, it's a
lot cheaper than buying the full version.

I've heard of some exciting projects that are in various stages of
development, but so far Lime is the most comparable thing to programs
like Finale. You might also be able to look into different funding
sources; if your school won't get the software for you you could try
state voc rehab, or if you're buying the software for personal use
sometimes Lions Clubs or other groups are willing to provide some
funds.

Hope this helps,
