Huge beach boy fan myself. Probably my main influence as far as music, at
least while growing up. 
If you ever heard some of the session tapes, and there's a lot out there,
they are amazing.

So did a brief Google search, mostly for my own sake, and yes, Phil Spectre
did create the Wall of Sound technique. Brian Wilson refined it and used it
a lot as well. Both are credited for using the process.

My music proff was a huge Beach Boys and Brian Wilson fan, so perhaps he
emphasized their role. It was also a few years ago, so I may not remember
the Spectre contribution as much either.

Now you know, ha-ha!
